In October 1978, Tom Beil joined the Brentwood Police Department as a Reserve Police Officer. Today, he retires, after 38 years of service to the Brentwood community.
Tom has seen a lot of changes, both in the Brentwood community, and at the PD. Tom served under six different Police Chiefs, starting with Chief Pete Giacopelli. He worked with many different police officers, dispatchers and fellow reserve officers.
Tom was always willing to help our department in any way he could. He took care of everyday tasks that were important to the success of a day. He was always available to back-up an officer on a call, assist with traffic direction and handle assignments. Over the years he worked a staggering amount of hours for the Brentwood community. For all of this, he received no paycheck.
We will miss Tom. We will miss his cheerful demeanor and genuine laugh. Tom retired from his real job, as a teacher in the Ferguson-Florissant school district, several years ago. He and his wife Connie are moving to a sunny climate in a few weeks. We wish you both all the best.
The Brentwood Police Department has initiated a voluntary citizen program called “Neighborhood Eyes”. Residents will have the opportunity to register their security camera system with the police department. This program has been successful in other communities in solving neighborhood crimes.
In the last few months, security camera systems have become more prevalent in our area. Several citizens in Brentwood, and neighboring cities, have provided police with security video showing suspects on their property entering their vehicles. This information is helpful to our investigators as they try to solve these crimes. When you register in this program, we may contact you after a crime in your neighborhood, and ask you to provide video that may help our investigation. This program is completely voluntary.
If you would like to participate, please provide your name, address and phone number, along with any information about your security camera system you would like to share (eg. location of camera, number of cameras, etc.). Our contact at the Brentwood PD is Det. Sgt. Jason Simpson at firstname.lastname@example.org and 963-8620.
