Several incidents lately of pedestrians, bicyclists and others being struck on roadways in the St. Louis area. How many times do you want to make that turn on to Brentwood Blvd., and there is someone waiting to cross? You try to gun it to make your turn before they step off the sidewalk. Problem is, everyone behind you follows the leader, and the pedestrian is at risk.
When driving, the law states you must yield to the person legally crossing the street at the crosswalk. Always.
When walking, always cross at the crosswalk and follow traffic signals. Never assume the car is going to stop, just because their light is red. If you are walking at night, be visible. When you cross, avoid talking/texting on your cell phone. PAY ATTENTION!
Let’s all be careful out there.
