Last night, the police department hosted a public forum to discuss recent concerns about traffic issues in the Brentwood neighborhoods. Residents spoke on such topics as speeding, cut-thru traffic, distracted driving and disregard for stop signs. It was a spirited, yet respectful discussion.
The pros and cons of solutions such as: speed bumps, one-way streets, stop sign removal/addition, improved crosswalks and traffic enforcement were raised by those in attendance.
Ultimately, the responsibility for obeying the traffic laws in Brentwood lies with the citizens first. If we drive responsibly, that will relieve many of these issues. We talked about the need for communication and education in the community on these issues.
